Confusion’s mouthpiece of Tamil Nadu Vaiko: The ‘Unconscious Comedian’ of Tamils

There appears no difference in the characters of the Central African Emperor Bokassa and Prabhakaran. Bokassa was very loyal to France but proved and hurt France requently. Similarly, Prabhakaran displays loyalty to India only when he is weak. And, when he commits an offence on India, he confessed at ease ‘It is a tragedy’-.

Vaiko is a self-proclaimed ‘Saviour’ in the lead. Less he knows that, he is being viewed as Tamil Nadu’s bumpkin, torn between the admiration of a few, and the resentment of many. Such is the sensitivity of Vaiko’s level of political experience and education. Soon, Vaiko may seek an honorary doctorate in exchange for some material concessions from the Sri Lankan Tamils living there, for the character of an ‘Unconscious Comedian’ he plays on the Sri Lankan issue. But, the Sri Lankan Tamils are a literate community who would proudly claim that , they have seen many ‘political lunatics’ in the political history in this region. Sri Lankan Tamil politicians are an entity quite disciplined and dignified with the highest level of decorum, when compared to the type of Vaikos’ seen in the neighbouring Indian State of Tamil Nadu. Therefore, to the literate and the dignified, Y.Gopalswamy alias Vaiko is the confusion’s masterpiece of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu’s MDMK Leader, Y. Gopalswamy alias Vaiko has embarked upon a political journey, quite contrive in nature, across the Palk Straits, to rouse communal feelings here.

He adopts a contumacious attitude towards the Centre in New Delhi, with the belief that he is almighty in the Southern Indian State. The contemptible conduct of

Vaiko

M. Karunanidhi

 Jayalalitha Jayaram

Vaiko, time and again on the Sri Lankan ethnic crisis, is quite clear and contemptuous to contend that, New Delhi could confidently view this Southern Indian ‘Unconscious political Comedian’ as playing a convulsive character in a comedy, to suit some fanatics over there. Even in Tamil Nadu, his ‘script’ on the Sri Lankan crisis, is an object of derision that ends up dry.

Playing the character of an ‘epileptic’, with regard to the Sri Lankan issue, Vaiko in politics looks an ‘idiosyncratic buffoon’ who attempted without success, to convince that he is more important than those who administer India from the Centre in New Delhi. His recent antics, less appalled the Tamils over there in the Southern Indian tip, and more amused the Tamils living in Sri Lanka. He carries within his breast the confusion and complexes of racism, that could be admired by a few and hated by many. Through the Sri Lankan issue, Vaiko looks to translate himself to be the ‘Champion of Causes’ of all Tamils, dreaming of the pinnacle of power in Tamil Nadu politics.

A semi literate is cunning. An over literate is shrewd. They both would opt to play many roles dreaming of the pinnacle of power. Why do they behave in that manner? Because of the little, or no education, intelligence or less intelligence they possess. To a few, they would look ‘smart chaps’, quite reliable and strong but, it’s like a volley of thunder, without rain at times. In the true sense of a character, an over literate could also be a Vulpine in a Vineyard, a specimen that is really not a physical giant, but a society’s dweeb in reality. A medical specialist would correctly diagnose that Vaiko is suffering from dysphasia. The mimicry Vaiko contracted is now turned satire. Hence, Vaiko’s antics could be ascribed to his foolish political character. Vaiko, the man with a legal background, now seems to have gone on ‘legal’ vacation, to launch illegal battles on issues outside his mother country.

On the Sri Lankan issue, Vaiko is a self-proclaimed ‘Saviour’ in the lead.

Tamil Nadu’s President of the TNCC, Thangabalu has seen Vaiko in the correct perspective, with regard to the latter’s phobia over the Sri Lankan issue, and the contrast in New Delhi’s stand on Sri Lanka. A few days ago, Thangabalu accused Vaiko of making charges against the centre for political gain and described the protests organised by Vaiko being designed to gain cheap publicity. True to form, Thangabalu had studied the inside of Vaiko in politics. Even in Tamil Nadu, this comedian politician is not taken seriously. If so, New Delhi has no time to waste on comedians in politics. Moreover, Tamil Nadu is a State where film personalities end up in politics. In Sri Lanka, only a few film personalities chose to enter the political scene. In contrast, the film mad State of Tamil Nadu, is braced with actor turned politicians. From the time of MG Ramachandran to Jayalalitha Jayaram, Tamil Nadu politics has been film oriented in its spectrum.

Mutuvel Karunanidhi though not an actor, is also a film industry man. He is one of the outstanding script writers who introduced Sivaji Ganeshan through the popular ‘Parasakthi’ film into the industry. Sivaji’s role in politics went without much excitement unlike MGR and Jayalalitha. There was also ‘Show’ Ramasamy, another film personality in politics who played the role of a comedian. Journalist, Nirupama Subramaniam is his niece. Ramasamy was a good comedian on the screen. In politics, he played a responsible role as a man, fully conscious of the interests on regional politics and bilateral relations between neighbours.

Vaiko seems to suffer from a phobia, after he met Velupillai Prabhakaran in the thick jungles of Wanni, in the early period of the past decade. He embarked across the Palk Strait creating a controversy, to pledge his support to the LTTE leader. From that day, Vaiko has been a sympathiser of the LTTE under the guise of the Tamil problem in this country.

Vaiko, the lover of the Sri Lankan’ Tiger’ has many questions to answer. Former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was killed by the LTTE in Vaiko’s Tamil Nadu State capital. Is Vaiko in justification of the killing of his former Prime Minister by the LTTE committed on his soil? Why doesn’t Vaiko blame the LTTE for that brutal murder of his country’s one time Prime Minister? Is it because Vaiko values his friendship with the assassin? Or, is it that Vaiko opposed the presence of Indian troops to combat the LTTE? If Vaiko endorsed the killing of Gandhi by the LTTE, isn’t he a traitor? If Vaiko is a true Indian, he should reminisce the history that linked the LTTE with India during the past three decades. In addition to the killing of Rajiv Gandhi, Vaiko’s friend Prabhakaran has killed over one thousand Indian troops and maimed over four thousand. To Vaiko, are they Indians or not? It is sad that Vaiko has chosen to shed tears on the plight of Tamils in Sri Lanka, though he failed to shed even a crocodile tear, at the time his own countrymen were massacred by his friend Prabhakaran. Vaiko has conveniently forgotten that sad past of the Indians on the Sri Lankan soil. In Vaiko, emotion seems to blow out of proportion on the reported plight of the Sri Lankan Tamils.

Emotions run high not only in Vaiko but also among many politicians in Tamil Nadu over the Sri Lankan crisis. Without reason to justify, Tamil Nadu politicians use the phraseology, ‘genocide of island Tamils’.

Vaiko and his friends are free to come over here to see whether there goes a genocide of the Tamils living here. The phrase genocide of Tamils-, is what Tamil Nadu politicians have been using since 1983 for the convenience to tarnish the image of the Sinhala majority population in this island nation. The Tamils living here, have not spoken of any such genocide on them during the ongoing military operations to crush Vaiko’s friend, Prabhakaran.

Vaiko needs Prabhakaran for his political existence in Tamil Nadu. If Prabhakaran dies, Vaiko’s political voice in Tamil Nadu would be stilled. Because, Vaiko plays politics only with the Sri Lankan issue and not with domestic issues in Tamil Nadu.

If the purported phrase of the reported genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka is true, as claimed by the cohorts of Prabhakaran in Tamil Nadu, then what about the genocide of other communities in Sri Lanka by the LTTE? How many Sinhalese and Muslims have been brutally murdered by the LTTE in addition to the Tamils opposed to them.

If Prabhakaran is the ‘protector’ of his community, why does he kill Tamils opposed to his outfit? What has Vaiko got to say on those killings? Is it correct for Vaiko, a man with a legal background to back and support a criminal like Prabhakaran who has flouted the law of both Sri Lanka and India to commit murders? Prabhakaran has murdered all educated intellects in the Tamil political scene.

Prabhakaran has no educational background like Macias Nguema, the first President of Equatorial Guinea after independence from Spain in 1968. Nguema had deep doubts about his own academic achievements and intellectual ability.

He hated those who wore spectacles and killed them. Why? Because, spectacles equalled short sight, and short sight meant intelligence having read much or too much.

Vaiko, reportedly a well read man has chosen a megalomaniac like Prabhakaran, to be his best Sri Lankan friend, for reasons better known to him.

Vaiko must ask his friend Prabhakaran, whether the latter truly admires and loves India.

Prabhakaran is a man who knows to play the dual role, much smarter than the Tamil Nadu actors, to his benefit. The comedian Vaiko, with all his legal experience has failed to study his client. There appears no difference in the characters of the Central African Emperor Bokassa and Prabhakaran. Bokassa was very loyal to France but proved and hurt France frequently. Similarly, Prabhakaran displays loyalty to India only when he is weak. And, when he commits an offence on India, he confessed at ease – ‘It is a tragedy’-.

The question is – who is responsible for that tragedy? Could India accept such lame confessions when one of her former Prime Ministers was killed by a ruthless terrorist, who has the audacity to just brush it off saying it’s a tragedy? After all, India is a big nation with the fourth largest Army in the world!

The bloodthirstiness, hunger for human flesh and the brutality of Prabhakaran could be viewed as a consequence of his lack of formal education.

There is also a belief that educated people too could become brutal. In such a conjunction, the friendship of Vaiko and Prabhakaran looks detrimental to human life and society in both countries.

We do not know the real role of Vaiko on the Sri Lankan crisis. Vaiko cannot deny that he politically survives on the Sri Lankan Tamil issue. With not much politics for Vaiko in Tamil Nadu, he spends his time on the crisis here to extend his support to Prabhakaran under the guise of a Tamil cause, and a flawed theory of a ‘genocide of Tamils’, the outdated lyrics of Tamil Nadu’s sympathy song for Lankan Tamils.

Tamils in Sri Lanka must carefully study the political lifestyle of Vaiko who has enough crocodile tears to shed for them. If this comedian politico from Tamil Nadu is carefully read, the Tamils in both countries would understand that Vaiko has no moral or political standards. His actions cannot be relied upon. The only prediction which could safely be made is that Vaiko is unpredictable.

Neither he could predict the future of his Sri Lankan buddy, Prabhakaran, a sanguinary. Vaiko cannot concentrate on serious topics. The tragedy of Vaiko is that he has no idea of his internal workings.

Because, he is partly trapped in a world of mental disorders. The root causes of Vaiko’s mental disorders are confusions, complexes of racism and the ambivalence towards a sanguinary like Prabhakaran.

If Vaiko continues as an ‘unconscious comedian’ for long, he is likely to suffer contusions of the brain, that may result in permanent brain damage, caused by internal haemorrhage, being ‘hit on the head’ by the Lankan Tamil issue. Labelled as a self-centred schmuck in Tamil Nadu, Y. Gopalswamy alias Vaiko, is a shambolic in politics. And nothing more than an ‘unconscious comedian’ to all Tamils.
